From Actions to Results: Traffic Safety Improvements Coming This Season

✅ Councillor Work Series: Because I am always listening to ward residents and advocating in council for proactive solutions, many safety improvements — including speed tables and other measures — have been installed in Allard, Blue Quill, Chappelle, Skyrattler, Rutherford, Twin Brooks, and other communities in the past 4 years.

Upcoming results of my continued advocacy:

✅ Skyrattler and Blackburne — Permanent asphalt speed humps are ready for installation. Details: Ten permanent asphalt speed humps will be installed by the end of the construction season, weather permitting. Based on our Speed Humps/Speed Tables plan, residents should expect to see permanent asphalt speed humps at the following locations:

1) Four speed humps will be installed along Saddleback Rd between 23 Ave and 111 St, and three along 22 Ave/112 St.

- These speed humps will address speeding on these roads and may discourage shortcutting in Skyrattler.

2) Three speed humps will be installed on each leg of the intersection of Blackburn Dr SW and Blackwood Crescent SW.

- These speed humps will address speeding concerns and improve pedestrian safety.

✅ Desrochers — Measures to improve traffic safety at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Elementary/Junior High School will be installed by the end of August, weather and resources permitting. They include:

- Flex posts and pavement markings to clearly define no stopping and no parking zones at intersections along Desrochers Boulevard and Desrochers Drive.

- These measures will prevent illegal parking and unsafe manoeuvres at and around crosswalks, and improve pedestrian visibility.
