Hello Desrochers neighbours, I am pleased to share that the city is responding to our request and actions are being taken, and are in progress now. Please see the details below. Thank you to everyone. This is great teamwork. 👍👍👍
“Following a review of this location, sightline issues were identified as the primary factor contributing to past collisions at this intersection. To address this, the City has installed an advanced warning sign and will be replacing the existing stop sign with a larger one. In addition, the City will be installing red reflective sleeves on the stop sign posts to further improve visibility and conspicuity of the stop sign, increase driver awareness, and significantly enhance overall safety at this location.
In addition, an all-way stop assessment for this intersection will be conducted this fall, once the school is back in session, to better evaluate traffic volumes on both 119A Street SW and 35 Avenue SW. If the location meets the requirements for an all-way stop, we will move ahead with the installation.”
As always, if anything else I can assist, please feel free to contact my office at Jennifer.Rice@edmonton.ca or 780-496-8132.
