Community Lighting - An Urge for Safety

With flicking and blacked-out street lights all throughout the Ward Ipiihkoohkanipiaohtsi, the city has seemed to forget that its citizens are being left in unlit communities.
Despite the current growing awareness for social safety, our children, grandparents, spouses - all of our loved ones, are being told to walk around in dark areas within their own communities at night. Throughout my door-to-door knockings, I've received multiple complaints about the lack of appropriate lighting their communities are given, and the fear this environment has caused.
Why do we need to take action?
Having reliable a source of lighting throughout the community promotes a sense of reassurance and safety within all its residents.
Makes street infrastructure and other objects more visible to users, decreasing the probability of tripping and other accidental injuries while travelling.
Well-lit areas discourage street crimes.
My Plan:
Push for the repair of all broken street lights and the construction of additional ones in appropriate areas, such as residential and community zones.
Promote regular street light upkeeping and check-ups.

These concerns all come from YOU and from my experience through daily community interactions. As your ward representative, I will be sure to voice this, and all other concerns, to the City Council. If you have other questions or concerns, feel free to check out my website and complete the survey. Thank you for your brave voices.
