I hope you enjoyed the temporary dog parks but it is time for them to come to an end.
The park closures, including the removal of fencing and other temporary infrastructure, will take place between October 23 and October 31, with the exception of the Allard location, which was closed September 22 due to scheduled tree planting in the area.
Park users and neighbourhood residents have been encouraged to provide feedback about Pop-up Dog Parks through a survey, available online, on paper at all Pop-up Dog Park locations and through in-person public engagement events.
Administration will evaluate the results of the feedback and data collected regarding the Pop-up Dog Parks, and report to Committee in Q1 2024. This report will include recommendations and associated costs for establishing additional permanent off leash areas and/or the potential continuation of Pop-up Dog Parks as an ongoing program.
Initial feedback from residents has been supportive of Pop-up Dog Parks. Park users and neighbours have reported to program staff that the presence of the temporary off-leash areas has increased their sense of community connectivity and has generally had a positive impact on their lives.
