Blackmud Creek Pond Visit

Was visiting our Blackmud Creek neighborhood today, checking the pond area since I heard some concerns from residents that the area was not being maintained to the level they desired.

Surprisingly, I met a wonderful resident who was cutting the grass in the area caring for and showing pride in his neighborhood. I am so grateful that we have such great citizens who love our city and are willing to help take care of our city. He told me it was his wife who inspired him to voluntarily help maintain the neighborhood because they want the neighborhood including our city look beautiful.

This nice surprise serves an indicator that our city needs to do better with cutting grass, controlling weeds and maintaining storm ponds areas to ensure residents can enjoy their neighbourhoods and have a good quality of life. I will continue to follow up with the relevant city departments regarding these core services that residents expect to see.

If you are aware of neighbourhood needs not being met, please feel free to reach out to me at Jennifer.Rice@edmonton.ca or 780-496-8132.
