Traffic Safety Updates in Allard:

Hello Allard residents, focusing on improving our community's safety is always one of my priorities. On top of hosting a Community safety conversation in Allard on April 30 2024 to promote our community's safety, based on what we heard, our city installed adaptable traffic measures in various forms and different locations in the entire Allard neighbourhood:

1. Curb Extensions in seven of: please see attached

2. Centre Medians in locations: please see the attached

3. Two-Stage Crossing at two locations: please see attached

4. Speed humps at Adamson Drive SW

5. Perneant asphalt tables at four locations along Allard Boulevard and Allar Link

6. Updates on the intersection of Allard Boulevard and Allard Road SW: our city has already implemented a number of actions at that intersection following the crash. Including:

1) removal of the median tree and bushes on Allard Road SW,

2) installation of curb ramp on the northeast corner of the intersection,

3) refreshment of the pavement markings WB,

4) installation of the fatality sign at this location,

5) installation of stop ahead sign to warn drivers as they are approaching,

6) replaced the 3-way white tab to be all way tab,

7) installed red reflective sleeves on the stop signs to increase visibility,

8) installed a no u-turn sign to improve safety, and

9) have requested EPS on site to complete enforcement for non compliance such as drivers not coming to a full stop.

Your safety is very important, our city is taking the next steps to continuously improve community safety including traffic safety. I will continue to advocate for you and work collaboratively with the city operation team to ensure our traffic is safe for everyone.
