Grade 6 “Ask your Councillor” Session...

Yesterday morning, I had the privilege of spending an hour with 99 grade 6 students from Johnny Bright School in an “Ask your Councillor” session. This event resulted from my office receiving many emails from students asking about current city issues and providing some great suggestions for improving our city’s services. We followed up with their Vice Principal to learn that the grade 6 classes were learning about the responsibilities of government.

It was so wonderful to see the enthusiasm of our future leaders and the amount of interest they have in neighbourhood issues and how City Hall works. Students also asked some wonderful questions on how to show good leadership inside and outside the classroom. Thank you to all students who participant this session and for asking so many thoughtful questions. Inspiring the community future leaders is one of the main reasons I ran for public office, which made this morning one of my more fulfilling experiences as a new City Councillor so far!
