Canvangh Neighbourhood Visit

Visit Canvangh Neighbourhood on March 14, 2024!

Cavanagh is one of the new neighbourhoods still under development within our Ward Ipiihkoohkanipiaohtsi. I repeatedly heard that the residents in this neighbourhood are experiencing insufficient bus services, schools, and safe crossing at 30 Ave SW. After many discussions/actions taken with developers, the city operating team, and school board trustees, here are some positive updates:

1. New traffic lights with a safe crossing signal are planned to be installed by the city in 2024 on 30 Avenue, Cavanagh Drive SW.

2, A new K-9 Catholic School is fully funded by the Government of Alberta during the 2024 budget.

3. Traffic signal timing has been adjusted to help reduce congestion during peak hours at the T-intersection on Ellerslie Road and 103A Street. In addition, dual turning lanes are planned for 103A Street turning right (east) on Ellerslie Road.
