Blue Quill Rezoning Public Hearing

Hello Blue Quill residents, there will be a public hearing in Council on October 21, 2024 regarding the rezoning application for the surplus school site development in the community. Residents can register to speak at the Public Hearing: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfjK1JQOPRWVORUVKsSbRn3yLN5E9vcVLu3nifMO4N1ZfmgFg/viewform. The development of this surplus school site is guided by a policy (C583A) that prioritizes access to affordable housing, increased housing choice and the integration of housing, services and amenities.

The rezoning application is being reviewed by City departments and utility agencies and assessed for its technical merits. A recommendation from the City Administration will be brought before City Council during the Public Hearing, as required by the Municipal Government Act. Council will also be provided with a What We Heard report containing the feedback received during the public engagement this spring. Council will make a decision at the Public Hearing.

A notification postcard has now been mailed to the Community League and neighbours within 120 metres of the development site with information about the public hearing scheduled for October 21, 2024. The notice has also been added to the city's webpage https://www.edmonton.ca/programs_services/housing/affordable-housing-developments?utm_source=virtualaddress&utm_campaign=housingdevelopments and will be shared with community members who have signed up for the mailing list.
